Abstract

Environmental degradation has become a global concern requiring comprehensive solutions from various perspectives, including Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh). This article explores the concept of environmental fiqh (fiqh al-bi'ah) and its correlation with social responsibility in Islamic law. Using normative juridical methods with qualitative approaches, this research analyzes classical and contemporary Islamic legal sources regarding environmental management. The findings reveal that Islamic law provides a solid theological and juridical foundation for environmental conservation through the concepts of khalifah (stewardship), maqasid al-shariah (objectives of Islamic law), and maslahah (public interest). The principle of social responsibility in environmental fiqh is manifested through individual and collective obligations to maintain ecological balance. This article concludes that environmental fiqh offers relevant and applicable solutions to contemporary environmental challenges by integrating spiritual, ethical, and legal dimensions in sustainable ecosystem management.
