This study aims to describe the implementation of the discussion method and mind mapping in the Basic Economics learning process for students of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Islam Tribakti Lirboyo Kediri. The background of this research is rooted in the need for learning strategies that enhance students’ conceptual understanding, activeness, and creativity. The discussion method is considered effective in encouraging interaction and critical thinking (Huda, 2017), while mind mapping helps students organize concepts visually and systematically (Buzan, 2018). This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the discussion method is implemented through group division, topic selection, and guided dialogue among students. This method enhances students’ understanding of economic concepts and improves their communication skills. Meanwhile, the mind mapping method is applied through the creation of visual concept maps that help students grasp the interconnectedness of the material. Supporting factors for the implementation of these methods include lecturer competence, student enthusiasm, and the relevance of the learning materials. Inhibiting factors include limited time, inadequate facilities, and variations in students’ creativity. Overall, students responded positively to the use of discussion and mind mapping methods, as they make the learning process more engaging, interactive, and easier to understand.
