Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Good Corporate Governance, Audit Committee, and disclosure quality on the quality of financial reports in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal comparative design. The data used are secondary data sourced from the annual reports and audited financial statements of eight manufacturing companies for the period 2020–2024. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression after the research model met the classical assumption test. The results show that Good Corporate Governance and Audit Committee significantly influence the quality of financial reports, but both show a negative direction. This finding indicates that the implementation of corporate governance mechanisms and the audit committee's oversight function has not been fully able to substantially improve the quality of financial reporting. Meanwhile, disclosure quality does not significantly influence the quality of financial reports, indicating that the breadth of information disclosed does not necessarily reflect an increase in the reliability and quality of accounting information. Simultaneously, all three independent variables were shown to significantly influence the quality of financial reports, although the model's explanatory power was still moderate. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the quality of financial reports in manufacturing companies in Indonesia is not only determined by the existence of a formal governance structure and oversight mechanism, but also depends heavily on the effectiveness of the implementation and the substantiveness of the oversight role carried out. These findings indicate that corporate governance and audit committee practices in Indonesia still have the potential to function as compliance and legitimacy mechanisms, not entirely as instruments for improving the quality of financial information that is economically valuable and informative for stakeholders.
