EFEKTIVITAS PENGGUNAAN SISTEM INFORMASI MANAJEMEN PERPUSTAKAAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN PELAYANAN PERPUSTAKAAN SEKOLAH DI SMAN JAYA NEGARA MAKASSAR

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using a management information system (MIS) in improving school library services. The research method employed a descriptive quantitative approach, with data collection techniques using questionnaires distributed to students at Jaya Negara High School. The population of this study was 150 students at Jaya Negara High School, Makassar, and a sample of 30 students using a random sampling technique. The results of this study indicate that the library service system at Jaya Negara High School has been running well through the implementation of a Management Information System (MIS), which facilitates book searches, borrowing, and returning. The data obtained showed an average score of 37.70 for the Management Information System (X) variable and 36.87 for the library service improvement (Y), indicating a high correlation between both variables. However, a simple linear regression analysis revealed a correlation coefficient of only 0.083 (very low) with a coefficient of determination of 0.689%. This means that the Management Information System only contributes less than 1% to improving services, while 99% is influenced by other factors such as librarian competence, collection availability, reading room comfort, and service hour policies. The t-test results also show a significance value of 0.665 > 0.05, so statistically the effectiveness of the Management Information System is not yet significant. In terms of perception, the Management Information System at SMA Jaya Negara Makassar has been functioning well and received a positive response from users. Statistically, the effectiveness of the Management Information System on improving services is still very low because it is influenced by many external factors. Optimizing the use of the Management Information System needs to be done through improving librarian competence, updating collections, and integrating the Management Information System with the school's learning platform.
