PERAN PENEGAK HUKUM DALAM MELINDUNGI ANAK DARI CYBERBULLYING DI PROVINSI PAPUA

Abstract

This study, entitled "The Role of Law Enforcement in Protecting Children from Cyberbullying in Papua Province," aims to understand the role of law enforcement and the obstacles they face in protecting children from cyberbullying. This research method is normative-empirical, examining legal sources/materials related to the research title. The data used in this study are primary data from interviews with informants and secondary data obtained from literature by reading legal materials, including primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. The results of the discussion include, first, that law enforcement (the police, in this case, members of the Papua Regional Police Cyber ​​Directorate) plays a central role in addressing violence against children through an approach that includes improving human resource capacity, utilizing advanced technology, and collaborating with relevant institutions. The National Police (Polri) not only handles perpetrators but also focuses on protecting and restoring victims through a restorative approach and psychological support. Preventive efforts, such as public education, monitoring social media, and involvement in public policy development, are also important steps to prevent digital violence against children. Meanwhile, in terms of the obstacles faced by law enforcers, these include law enforcement factors, legal factors, facilities and infrastructure factors, community factors and cultural factors.
